Tons of great DVD releases out there this month, here are some of our favorites:
- THE LAST CIRCUS - Manic Spanish thriller, somewhere between Pan's Labyrinth and Dark Knight... but better!!!
- THE RED CHAPEL - Danish agit-prop theatre troupe heads deep into uncharted territories, in attempts to expose the state of propaganda in North Korea, like Borat with a purpose.
- BUCK - Heartwarming and powerful documentary on the real life Horse Whisperer.
- ATTACK THE BLOCK - Funny, action-packed, alien invasion film, where a group of Hood Rat teens square off against the E.T.'s. Producers of Shaun of the Dead!
- SUBMARINE - Looking for a light, well crafted, rom-com??? Try this British film on an overly intellectual teen, working to keep his parents' marriage alive while trying score with his new girlfriend.
- TREE OF LIFE - May not be everyone's cup of tea, Terrence Malick's newest is a brooding visual poem quite unlike the typical fare. Stars Sean Penn and Brad Pitt.
- LUTHER S.2 - Excellent BBC detective series returns, starring The Wire's Idris Elba (who's slated to be the next James Bond)!
- PAGE ONE - Great customer feedback on this documentary look at the making of front page news.
- BAARIA - New Italian film from the director of Cinema Paradiso.
- NORA'S WILL - Didn't get too much press stateside, but was pretty much the year's biggest hit, with critics and audiences alike, in Mexico.
- LUNAPOLIS - Conspiracy theorists REJOICE!!!
- THE PRINCESS OF MONTPENSIER - Newest from one of France's most revered filmmakers Bertrand Tavenier, is a lush female centric costume drama.
- RED STATE - Intense thriller from Kevin Smith, whose known for his comedic hits like Clerks.
- CITY OF LIFE AND DEATH - Hong Kong produced war story on Nan King.
- BEAUTIFUL BOY - Micheal Sheen (Nixon/Frost) stars in this excellent, albeit downbeat, quiet drama.
- TIBET IN SONG - This touching documentary takes a look at Tibet's culture through the lens of it's beautiful/tortured folk song.
- WITHOUT MOTIVE S.1 & 2 - Fans of British detective series take note!
- THE TRIP - Realer than real, utterly dry, but we love it.
- LEAP YEAR - Mexico City, a frumpy woman explores her sexuality to dangerous effect.
- DANCE FU - Not another teen dance flick??? This one's directed by Cedric the Entertainer and it's way way stupid. I laughed, a lot.
- SNUFF BOX - American sketch comedy not raunchy, random enough for ya? Try this one.
- THE LEAGUE S.2 - Funny FX TV show, centered around fantasy footballers, but really just a bunch of shit-talking going on here. Better than the first season to boot.
Also check out these JUST ADDED titles, available as part of our 3 for 5 deal.
- ISLAND OF LOST SOULS - The original '30s version, amazing, essential pre-code chiller!!!
